Grandpa and Grandma's House
We just got back from another trip to Grandpa and Grandma Dick's house. Mom had a wedding reception to go to, so we decided to take the whole week so that the kids could spend time with Grandma and Grandpa (which they loved). Both the kids stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while I went to all of the wedding festivities. Dude did pretty well. They said that he didn't eat for about 6 hours straight - they tried to feed him, but he was totally uninterested. He was happy and played most of the time. We went shopping on one of the days. Grandma wanted to get some clothes for the kids. Dude had about 3 pair of pants and a couple long sleeve shirts, and we are starting to hit Fall in Utah, so I was really grateful to go out and get some things. All of the outfits we got for him were 12 month clothes. Can you believe that ? He is 5 months old and fitting into 12 month clothes. I think a lot of the 9 month things could have fit him, but then he would have grown out of them before the winter hit., He is just a long, long boy. He has been waking up so early lately (in the 6:00 hour) - I'm not sure what that is all about. Maybe he is having a growth spurt because when I get him up he just eats like tummy is rubbing a hold on his spine.

Getting Strong
Dude is starting to be able to hold himself up much better. When he is in his car seat, he will lift his head up so that it is not resting on the back of the seat. Then he just holds it there. he can sit up by himself for a few seconds without being held, and he is really good about supporting himself for a long time with a little hand support here and there. He is grabbing at everything these days... and of course putting it straight into his mouth. We have one toy that he especially likes (it is a curly cloth toy that can stretch out and has little characters hanging from it). We can attach it to either side of his car seat so that it stretches out right in front of him, and he will just grab and play with that thing for so long. It's fun to watch him notice all of the things around him. We have moved Dude into the full size crib. He was just getting too big for the pack n' play. He has done fine with the transition. Sometimes he gets moving around a lot and gets his hand and feet out of the bars (I need to get a new bumper pad to put around it), but for the most part the space is goof for him.
